Bio

Rob Hailstone joined Butler Group in October 2006 as Software Infrastructure Practice Director. Hailstone’s expertise is in the areas of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), composite application platforms, business process automation and Web services. He also covers the underlying technologies such as application server, integration server, and information management.

Hailstone has over 30 years' experience in IT and has worked in a variety of technical, managerial, and marketing roles within end-user and vendor organizations. Hailstone joined Butler Group from IDC, where he was Director of the company’s European Service Oriented Architecture and Application Platforms service, prior to which he spent three years as an analyst with Bloor Research, becoming the company's research director.

Hailstone's breadth of experience and contacts throughout the IT vendor community give him a unique perspective on the problems caused by relentless innovation in the IT industry, and of the nature of solutions to these problems. During his time as an analyst, Hailstone has delivered around 100 presentations across 18 different countries, on 50 separate titles including such areas as integration technology ROI, Web services, and utility, grid, on-demand, and service-oriented architecture.

Hailstone is a graduate of the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth.
