The 2010 Belgian Presidency of the European Union (EU) is partnering with OASIS and the Belgium Federal Ministry of Finance to host Green I.T. for Green Policy, 13-14 October 2010 in Brussels, Belgium.  This conference will be an official event in the EU calendar during the Belgian Presidency and will be hosted at the Belgium Federal Ministry of Finance.

This conference compliments the World Standards Day on 14th October, which has the objective of raising awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy.

High Level Attendees

Senior-level policy makers from the public sector will join with top executives in the Energy, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Smart Buildings and related Technology fields. Approximately 350 high-level delegates will be accommodated. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required.

Participation in this Conference is at no cost, but registration is essential.

Debating an Action Plan for Europe

Green I.T. for Green Policy will provide a unique opportunity for the public and the private sectors to debate ways ICT can enhance environmental and energy sustainability and competitiveness in line with the goals of the Belgian EU Presidency.

Expert speakers will demonstrate how technology and policy interact within a progressive and dynamic partnership to achieve sustainability goals within tight financial constraints. Open standards and interoperability will be considered as important contributions to promoting green I.T. for green policies.

Conference Outcome:  Each panel on the programme will deliver a Technical Recommendation that can be taken forward by OASIS and a Policy Recommendation to be addressed by the Belgium EU Presidency, leading to a substantive Action Plan.
